Table Chair
1990The Table-chair was part of Richard’s graduation work. As a result of a research into living he Came up with the Table-upon-table concept in which he decided the house in archetype tables. The floor, the room, the bed, the chair, the cabinet and the (dinning) table he translated into the form of an archetype table, based on the human size. This model shows the relation between architecture and furniture, and between the different types of furniture. Based on this model he developed a whole series of furniture, including the Table-chair.
The Table-chair consists of two separate tables. A small table, stool size, to sit on, and a second table, with a part cut out of the top to make the arm and back rest. This is the first chair ever consisting of two separate parts.
The chair was part of the first ever Droog Design exhibition in 1993.
